I Samuel 16:7 But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."
God tells Samuel to go to Jesse of Bethlehem and choose one of his sons to be king. As soon as he sees Eliab, he thinks that surely this is the one. He probably was tall, tanned, handsome, had muscles...perfect physique! Stop drooling ladies! Samuel then gets a 101 in king picking...look past the flesh and into the heart. Eliab and six more brothers passed by and were rejected. Finally, the father admits he has one more son, the youngest, and the sheep keeper. The bible describes David as ruddy, with bright eyes and good looking. Ok, he just happened to be eye candy, but the reason God chose him, was he had a heart after God. If only we worked as hard on our inside attitude as we do our outward appearance. If we started our day not only with the makeup, shaving, shower, so on...but also the praying, reading His Word and allowing Him to be seen. Myself included!
Food for thought this week. Have an anointed week. Kathy
